DIGITALL AND GBS CELEBRATE CYBER SECURITY MONTH

Both companies dedicate October 2022 to cyber security by running numerous activities and participating at it-sa Expo&Congress, Europe’s leading trade fair for IT security.

Nuremberg/Germany – October 5, 2022

October 2022 marks the 10th anniversary of the European Cyber Security Month dedicated to promoting cyber security and raising awareness about this topic with the idea to help change online behavior and strengthen businesses and organizations against cyber-attacks.

DIGITALL in collaboration with GBS (a DIGITALL company specializing in cyber security) has created the campaign Cyber Security October where it offers webinars, videos, interviews, etc. and also participates at it-sa Expo&Congress, one of the biggest security conferences in Europe, that is taking place from October from 25th to 27th 2022 in Nuremberg, Germany.

“As a leader in Cyber Security solutions for email and collaboration platforms, the Cyber Security Month is a great opportunity for us to educate and inform people and businesses about what modern cyber security looks like”, says Dr. Thomas Bruse, Senior Vice President of GBS. “The pandemic was an important driver for the digitalization of communication, collaboration, and workspaces which is fantastic. But this also means that there are more channels, documents, and devices that can serve as attack gateways. This is why we need to raise awareness, and also continue creating solutions that keep harmful software, spam, and phishing messages away.”

A study by Stanford University Professor Jeff Hancock found that 88% of all cyber-attacks are caused by human error (read more about this here). With new communication channels such as email, chat, messengers, and social media, it’s becoming easier for attackers to gain sensitive information through deceit and false identities.

“For many companies, cyber-attacks seem very abstract and impossible, especially in industries that usually don’t handle sensitive data. But modern attackers are not after the data”, knows Patrick Paulsen, Cyber Security Engagement Manager DACH from DIGITALL. “Ransomware is one of the biggest problems in this day and age and it affects companies and organizations across the globe. 2021 has seen an increase of more than 100% in ransomware attacks and these have become a criminal business all on its own.”

“But there is good news”, says Lyubomir Tulev, Director Managed Security Services at DIGITALL. “Yes, cyber-attacks are increasing, and the means are diverse. But cyber security solutions are also getting smarter. Security operations centers, for example, combine the strength of centralized data management, artificial intelligence, and human expertise to create a pro-active 24/7 protection and enable companies and organizations by providing trainings, stress tests, and further security measures.”
